The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
What an adorable book! My kids both absolutely love The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It is all about the life-cycle of a little caterpillar. We have the hardcover version, and it has holes in the pages that symbolize where the caterpillar has nibbled on different foods each day. This really adds to the fun of the story.
Through this story, your children will love learning about the life-cycle of a caterpillar, and as a bonus they will learn early counting skills and the days of the week. Nevertheless, probably one of the best parts about this book is the illustrations. They are so fun and very colorful, very attractive for young eyes.
Tiny Tidbits: The book was originally going to be about a bookworm named Willi, and the title was suppose to be A Week with Willi Worm. However, the editors nixed that idea, so now we have a cute, but very hungry caterpillar. (Resource: Wikipedia)
