Yes, I’m going to Sin City. No gambling for me though. I work too hard to save money, not blow it.
Next week it’s Spring Break for us and the grandparents have been planning to get the kids for the week.
I’ll admit, I have been looking forward to the little break and being able to get some things done around the house that are hard to do with the kids here. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’ll miss my babies like crazy, but it’s nice to get a break every once in a while too.
Well, as you might have figured out from the title of this post, I’m not going to be catching up on that housework.
Recently, my husband found out that a class he needs to take for work is being offered next week in Las Vegas. So guess what, this time I get to tag along. You didn’t think I was going to stay at home all by myself, did you? No way!!
I didn’t get to go on the Hawaii trips. (Yeah, I know. Bummer!) So since I had the chance to go to Las Vegas, I didn’t want to miss out on this one. Hopefully in my alone time in the hotel room, I’ll be able to do some reading, writing, relaxing, relaxing, and relaxing. Ahhh….
A friend of mine told me to just make sure I didn’t end up on CSI. Thanks for the tip, Amy! Maybe I should just stay in the hotel room the whole trip.
Okay, I’ll get back on a more serious note. Although this isn’t actually a family vacation, it is a mini-vacation for me. I’m hoping we’ll be able to go somewhere else this year with the kids. In my opinion, it’s not a family vacation unless the kids get to go too.
With that in mind, I thought I’d take this opportunity to remind you of, or introduce you to, some posts I did last year for planning your family vacation. After all, it is that time of year again.

You will have a blast! So much to see and do in Vegas. Tons of shopping!! Very expensive but fun to look. Check out Ceasar’s and the Venitian. There’s a Coke and M&M store……three stories! I always brought something home to Nicole from there.
Also go to the Belllagio’s fountain show out front and definitely go inside to their lobby and to their pastry shop. They have a huge chocolate fountain. Awesome pastries and chocolate covered strawberries.
I know of several places for dinner which are fabulous but pricey. The Mix on top of Mandaley Bay is wonderful. If you don’t want to eat there at least go up and check it out. Front part is a bar done in all black. Restaurant is done in all white/cream. They said it was going thru hell to get to heaven. Must go in the restroom. I know kind of weird, but in a couple of the stalls the windows are floor to ceiling and you’re looking over the strip while going to the bathroom.
Eating at the Effel Tower is very good as well. If you’re there at the right time you can watch the Bellagio fountain show from there. Excellant food. Fabulous chocolates!! Don’t order dessert because when we were there they brought us a little sample tray anyway.
A must is Margaritaville. Obviously their margarita’s are good but you should try their Volcano Nachos!! HUGE stack of nachos with everything on them.
That’s some of the places I’ve been. There’s a burger place there that is really good as well. If I think of the name, I’ll let you know. Again there is so much to see and do there. Take good walking shoes. Even just hanging around the pool can be very interesting!!
Have a great time!!!!
I hope your parents have great fun with the grandkids. If they need some ideas for “grandma/grandpa camp,” I have lots of tips on my website. I’d love for them to share their experiences when the week is over. Well, they’ll probably need a short period of recovery, but when that’s over, my readers would like to hear from them. Hope you have a great vacation!

My brother and sister in law lived in Henderson for several years. I visited them twice and had a blast just walking thru the casinos and watching the dancing fountain. We went hiking at Mt. Charles (I think that is the name) nearby. We also toured Hoover Dam and Boulder City (cute shops). We did drive to Grand Canyon(stayed overnight in Williams, AZand into Utah to a park (day trip) there. It is a beautiful part of the country. So much more than the casinos. There is also some good outlet mall areas there too for shopping. Have fun! I can’t wait to take my kids there sometime to see the Dr. Seuss trees (Joshua trees) in the desert!
@Kim - Wow! I think that is officially the longest comment I’ve ever gotten.
Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like we’ll have plenty to do.
@Mary Lynn - We are actually planning on going to see the Hoover Dam. I really wish we had time to see the Grand Canyon. I would really love to see it. Thanks!!
